How to Order a No Frills Website
This really depends on the type of business or organization you have. A restaurant might want to display menu pages and a "Special Events/Catering Services" page. A specialty retail store might want to display a segment of their products. A body shop might want to display references and "before & after" photographs of their work. Try to determine the first thing you want viewers to know about you - that should go on your Home Page. Usually this is a combination of pictures, hours, addresses and phone numbers.
Determine what you already have that can be displayed on your Website:
Do you have a logo with a general color scheme? Do you already have brochures printed about your business or organization? Do you have pictures of your location or products? Do you already have computer graphics files relating to your business, i.e., JPGs or GIFs? If so, you may have already done most of the hard work (on your part) in developing your Website!
A domain name is that which someone types into their computer browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, e.g.) which brings them to your Website. It is usually "www.yourbusinessname.com" or another extension like ".org" or ".net." Depending on the name of your firm, a ".com" name may already be taken, but that grows less important every day as more extensions are being created to keep up with the growth of the World Wide Web. If you would prefer a ".com" address, options such as adding "inc" or the city you are in (www.YourBusinessNameNewOrleans.com) are always available. We can check on the availability of domain names while on the phone with you until we find something you like.
No Frills Websites will build you a sample site for your review, which can be viewed from the Sample Sites section of the No Frills Website or from a special, temporary Web address that we give you. This will show you that we can get the data and images published to the World Wide Web. This will not be the actual Website address you purchase, but will help you with the decision of whether you really want the Website. We will return the information as soon as we have scanned it and incorporated it into the sample Website.
By this stage No Frills Websites has published the data you have supplied so that it is viewable over the Internet from your computer. When you see the sample site, you should be able to decide that "Yes, I want to do this," or that you think it is not going to be worth your while to pursue the project any more. If you decide you do not want the Website, then "no harm done," and we will just hope you change your mind someday. But if you want it...
If we get this far, then you have decided that the quoted cost for the construction and first year hosting of the Website is the bargain that No Frills Websites thinks it is. At this point we will order the domain name and ask for payment, but we are by no means finished. A finished Website is a myth. A Website is a continually evolving entity. Six months down the road you might decide to change a color, or to add some new pictures. You may have monthly specials to be changed every four weeks. Most changes of this sort are done free of charge. Then, assuming huge changes are not needed, it is just $100 a year.
